About the Story:
Zane Murdoch just got a tattoo. The problem is, the tattoos are a magically infused curse that turns him into a raging beast and the only hope he has of curing it is absolving his rage. Seems simple enough until he and his clan are nearly demolished in a powerful attack. Now Zane finds himself involved in a paranormal battle of mystical proportions and breaking the curse may be a bit more challenging than he thought. Serena Vailean is alone in the world and quite frankly that's how she likes it … At least until she finds a way to bring back her dead lover, Devon Thomas. Unfortunately for her, plans have a nasty way of changing and she finds herself thrust back into the world she's been trying so desperately to escape. Her only hope is to seek help from the very people she has gone to great lengths to avoid. As an epic battle approaches, Serena and Zane must rely on each other and overcome their personal demons if they plan to survive. Unfortunately, caging a demon makes them all the harder to control.
Tell me about yourself. What’s a day in your life like?
~ My name’s Megan J. Parker (I go by Megan, Meg and Megatron). Currently, I am a full-time college student along with my writing/art work. A day in my life would be: stay up to ungodly hours and sleep for 3 hours tops, go to school around 11AM and leave at 3PM, nap for 1 hour and continue the nightly work (cover design, writing, editing, etc.) and proceed with schedule again.
Needless to say, weekends are my favorite. lol
When you were a child, what was your dream occupation?
~ To be an artist. I always wanted to create things in different ways.
Describe an incident in your life that’s helped mold you into the person you are today.
~ When I was young, I lost my father to suicide. Since then, I’ve motivated myself to strive not let depression overcome me and to push myself to succeed in my career and life itself.
Who are your favorite authors?
~J.R. Ward, Kresley Cole, & Nathan Squiers
What are you passionate about?
~ Writing, design and the drive to keep others living as much as myself. I believe strongly in having programs to help students against bullying and just depression itself.
What would I find in your couch cushions?
~ Change and cat fur most likely.
What’s your biggest fear?
~ Losing the love of my life and the drive to continue
It’s 10:00 on a Friday night. Where are you?
~ Either out with friends seeing a movie or something similar to that, or sitting at my chair on my laptop working on writing and design.
What sets you apart from other writers?
~ I drive to put realism into the fiction paranormal world. I don’t create unbelievable/fantasy characters but I still create characters you can love. My characters are relatable even in their paranormal state. My main focus is to create a character that you want to cheer for but be relatable and easy to fall in love with.
We’re in a bar and I’m buying you a drink. What’ll it be?
~ Apple juice or a soda lol. I don’t drink alcohol, I am actually straight-edge.
What are you currently reading?
~ Kresley Cole’s “Shadow’s Claim” & Dawn White’s “Wingless and Damned”
How do you deal with rejection?
~ I see it as a learning experience and try to find the best out of the rejection to help me in the future.
Where did the idea for your novel come from?
~ First, I was inspired by comics/manga (Japanese comics) and fairytales of sorts. Then, I wanted to create a female lead that was strong with an edge and didn’t need a man to succeed. From there, I took the characters I developed and worked their stories into it. I really work on character development and turn that around my story.
Do you have advice for aspiring writers?
~ Never give up. We all have stories to tell and we should always have that opportunity to tell our stories.
What is the toughest criticism you’ve received as an author?
~ I haven’t received too many tough criticisms. My fiancé has told me a few times to work on my language but he’s helped develop my writing and use of language to a point that he and myself are comfortable with.
What does your main character think about you? Would he or she want to hang around you as their author?
~ My main character would probably see me too weak. She is so strong and developed...she’d probably try to kick my butt to become stronger!
Who would play the starring role(s) if your book became a movie?
~ Serena would most likely be played by Emma Stone and for Zane…Chris Hemsworth. (He’d just have to have black hair ;) )
If you had to choose one…which song would sum up your story?
~ Atreyu – The Crimson
Would you like to say anything to your readers / fans?
~ Thank you for sticking with me and reading my work! Without you, I would be nowhere so again, you all rock! xoxo
Where link-wise can your readers / fans stalk you?
~ Facebook is easiest ;) à https://www.facebook.com/MeganJParkerAuthor
As a writer, it can be difficult to find enough time in the day to get everything done. Would you like to share your favorite ‘quick and easy’ recipe?
~ I have created myself a new schedule that I pin to my wall every week as well as adding it to my phone’s calendar.
~ Thank you for having me on your blog!! ~
