Oh well, my hot, built servant men come and wake me at my over-the-water-bungalow and… oh wait, you mean MY REAL LIFE? That’s no fun! Okay, you asked for it. I wake up way to early to get in whatever time I can running or exercising and then shower and dress. During the school year, I get my two girls ready for school, breakfast, books and such ready and off to the bus. Then I feed all the animals and clean litter boxes and cages. Then it’s off to a nice 8-10 hour workday at the ad agency filled with rush deadlines and frantic people. I get home from work and either cook dinner or do dinner dishes, help with homework, drive and pick up from CCD, Ballet, karate and viola lessons (Kind of soccermomish), get the kiddies ready and in bed, spend time with hubs and…GASP OF BREATH… then sit and write until it’s time to fall asleep and start all over again. Mind you – I do have a hubs who does 50-50 with me, so I am very lucky.
How did you come up with the idea for your story? Oh I don’t ever come up with ideas for my stories. They come knocking on my brain and demand to be told! And they won’t leave me alone until I start writing. Very pesky.
Describe an incident in your life that’s helped mold you into the person you are today. The birth of my daughters and the death of my father – both changed everything in my life. My daughters’ births made me realize that making new life was the true meaning of life – does that make sense? LOL It doesn’t matter what you do or don’t have or who you know or anything. It’s just being here on this earth. And then the death of my father made me see my own mortality and how precious life is and how it can be here one minute and gone in the next. You become more aware of who you are and who is around you. I began to write so that I could leave a small piece of me behind in this life.
If you could have any writer doppleganger in the world (or more specifically, Washington State), who would it be and why? (Hey, you knew I had to throw it in there) Well, of COURSE it would be Sarah Carr. I mean – even our facebook comments are exactly the same! We are twins! And I am very much looking forward to penning our special top-secret-doppleganger novel together. Have I said too much???? LOL
What are you passionate about? I am passionate about a lot of things. My family. My novels. Halloween. Music. Art. Twilight (YES I AM A TWIHARD). I try to do a bit of everything so I can say I have experienced it all! Bungee jumping out of a hot air balloon, driving the road to Hana, work on a haunted trail every October, snorkeling in the middle of the ocean (and if you know my extreme fear/fascination of sharks than you know this is a HUGE deal for me!), ghost hunting in a haunted library, having 30,000 gallons of water thrown on me, singing on 4 CDs... and the list goes on.
What would I find in your couch cushions? Crumbs and coins and tiny, tiny toys!
Hamburger or steak? Doesn’t matter as long as it’s medium rare!
Boxers or briefs? WHAT? NO COMMANDO????? Fine. Bike-short briefs.
Wine or beer? Oh neither! I like fruity drinks where I can’t taste the alcohol.
Spontaneity or predictability? Wow, I am doing horribly here. I am a bit of both.
Dogs or cats? CRAP. BOTH.
Cotton or lace? LEATHER!!!
Are you getting the rebel in me yet?
What sets you apart from other writers? I don’t plan my stories and I don’t write to impress. I write like I speak. I tell you the story as it comes out of my head.
Who are your favorite authors? Stephen King, Sarah J Carr, Stephenie Meyer, Lauren Kate.
What are you currently reading? I just finished Divergent and Obsession, and will start Insurgent soon. I tend not to read while I am writing or editing.
What are your writing vices? Used to be coffee and cigarettes. But alas, I went healthy and quit smoking recently, so, now coffee and my black cat, Taps. I also have this one song that sometimes helps me if I get stuck writing a sex scene!
How do you deal with rejection? It’s something I deal with on a daily basis for work, so I guess I’m OK as long as it’s not personal. Then I get VERY upset! LOL
What project(s) are you working on now? Finishing The Purple Heart via editing. I am writing a new novel and am so excited about it but I don’t have a contract yet so I can’t say much. I am also working on a fun spooky young adult series about a haunted trail called Spirited Grounds. There is a secret project with my West Coast Author Wifey/personality doppleganger. <-- Yay, that's me! :)
Do you have advice for aspiring writers? Do it for you and when it’s not fun anymore and makes you cry…stop and take a break. And never give up your dreams.
What is the toughest criticism you’ve received as an author? I had a publisher turn down one of my manuscript submissions by ripping my writing and my story plotline to shreds – three pages worth of insulting everything. I think what made it so bad was that it was the very first thing I had ever sent out to a publisher and the very first rejection I had gotten. I was so afraid to send it out again and afraid I was fooling myself that my work was any good.
In your eyes, what one song sums up The Cliff? Oh….ummm….uhhhhh….Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake or Darling Nikki by Prince? I don’t know! LOL We are Young by Fun?
If your book ever became a movie, who would play the starring role(s)? Oh my, that’s so rough. I would of course love Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart but we can all dream, right? LOL Maybe Alex O’Loughlin for Grant? So hard to choose. Chris Hemsworth for Dane. I’ll have to think about the heroine.
If you’d like, provide an excerpt and/or back cover blurb:
Can a childhood pact affect the lives of three adults?
Love and betrayal surrounds the lives of three lifelong friends, Lanie Rhodes, Grant Bennett and Dane Voight. Years ago, they made a childhood pact to remain together as friends forever. But the boys made another secret pact that same day, to never vie for Lanie’s love.
Grant and Lanie have secretly been pining for one another since they were children. Now grown up, they finally admit their feelings for each other and what ensues is a twisted tale of deception, as Dane, who has been squelching his feelings for Lanie too, does everything he can to get what he wants.
The sexual tension between Grant and Lanie as they break the pact has just the right amount of sweet and hot mixed together. You’ll find yourself cheering for Grant and crying a little for Lanie, while the treachery caused by Dane will literally have you gasping with shock. It’s a whole new level of depravity. The story weaves around this uneven love triangle. What will happen to the pact? Will friendships be destroyed? Will lovers emerge? Every chapter of The Cliff ends in a cliffhanger. You won’t be able to put it down!

As a writer, it can be difficult to find enough time in the day to get everything done. Would you like to share your favorite ‘quick and easy’ recipe?
It’s called: Thank God my Husband Cooks Soufflé
1 hot husband (this is your meat or protein - snickers)
1 cup of whatever he feels like making for dinner
Chop and the finely grate his nerves by telling him you’re running late
Turn the heat all the way up (try not to singe) by totally hitting on the chef once you get in the door
Add lots of MMMs (and anything else that might turn him on) in while eating whatever he made
And then top off by doing the dishes and thanking him with a HUGE KISS!
That sounds like quite the recipe! It'd make Betty Crocker proud! Is there anything else you'd like to share today?
Just that I love you and thanks so much for having me!
Awww! I love you, too, Wifey! I wish you much success with The Cliff! You're welcome back to my website any time!! :)
