I’m a twenty-year-old from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I’m a semi-college student and have only recently found my love of writing.
What sets you apart from other writers?
It would probably be the character interactions. I try to make every character an individual and react in a very authentic way towards any given situation.
Who are your favorite authors?
I’m a huge fan of Jim Butcher, Lee Child, and Simon R. Green.
We’re in a bar and I’m buying you a drink. What’ll it be?
Well… I’m not old enough to drink, but you could probably talk me into a beer.
What are you currently reading?
I have a stack of to-be-reads sitting in an emptied out wardrobe, but I just finished up “The Neon Rain” by James Lee Burke. It was excellent.
What are your writing vices?
My ADD (self-diagnosed of course) acts up and my writing gets sort of scatterbrained and distant at times. It gets cleaned up in editing and re-writes, so it’s not so much a problem in the finished product. Oh, also my punctuation sucks. Thanks goodness for editors!
If you could gift yourself one superpower, what would it be?
Limitless intelligence. Then I could just figure the other stuff out.
How do you deal with rejection?
I don’t. Just let it roll of and keep moving forwards. Who has time to sulk these days anyway?
Where did the idea for your novel come from?
Honestly, I don’t really have an answer for that. It was just what I started writing when I first started writing, and it spiraled on once I started. There was no sort of culminating moment or revelation.
You’re stranded on a deserted island. What three items would you take?
A book to read (preferably something extremely long), a shovel, and duct tape.
What project(s) are you working on now?
I’m currently writing the sequel to my premier novel, “Descendants”. I’m also fleshing out some of my random ideas as short stories. Some are good, some aren’t, but it’s an awesome experience.
What would I find in your couch cushions?
Lots of change and crumbs.
Do you ever encounter writers block?
Yes, but it’s mainly from a lack of focus. I get very easily distracted and drift away from my writing, sometimes not to return to it for days.
Do you have a day job?
I currently am doing data entry for Pennjersey Environmental Inc.
Is your writing based on real life experiences or is it all imaginary?
The dialogue and character personalities are mostly based on people in my life, but the experiences and situations are purely fictional.
What does your main character think about you? Would he or she want to hang around you as their author?
I would certainly like to think so. Although we can both be a little pig-headed so you never know how that meeting would turn out.
Who would play the starring role(s) if your book became a movie?
Just in case that every happens, I’m going to plead the fifth. Don’t want to jinx anything!
If you’d like, provide an excerpt and/or back cover blurb:
I was kneeling before the throne, being reprimanded… again. The King was going on and on about the importance of responsibility in our darkening world and how it was the job of those with power to maintain the peace.
“Not to potentially wipe out an entire race.”
“Look you weren’t there; you have less than no idea just how badly they deserved it.”
I had just come back from possibly – key word, possibly – killing the last of the gnomes of North America.
“You acted irresponsibly and foolishly. I can honestly say I expected better from you,” said the King in that stupid I know better than you tone of his.
“All right, Dad.” I put as much ice into my voice as I could manage while speaking to my father (don’t worry we’ll get to that). “When you go to investigate a kidnapping and find twelve gnomes sacrificing an eleven-year-old girl trying to grant their females renewed fertility; with three similar corpses in the room, you can come lecture me.”
“Did you at least save the girl?” he asked me sardonically.
“Of course I saved the freaking girl. What kind of Knight would I be if I couldn’t save one measly damsel in distress?”
Would you like to say anything to your readers / fans?
Nothing in here is meant to be taken too seriously. I write for your entertainment, that’s all. So please sit down, take a load off, and enjoy.
Where link-wise can your readers / fans stalk you?
facebook.com/andrewkatz.author and I actually take personal emails at email@example.com
As a writer, it can be difficult to find enough time in the day to get everything done. Would you like to share your favorite ‘quick and easy’ recipe?
I think we’ve got it all covered, thanks for having me!
